Brendon McCullum has gone on to compare Sheldon Jackson’s abilities to those of legendary captain MS Dhoni and star Caribbean power-hitter Andre Russell. Kolkata Knight Riders head coach Brendon McCullum is quite pleased with the talents of wicketkeeper Sheldon Jackson. After dismissing Robin Uthappa with a lightning-fast stumping during the IPL 2022 curtain-raiser against Chennai Super Kings, the 35-year-old gained widespread attention.
McCullum has praised Jackson’s unique qualities, stating that the Bhavnagar cricketer’s development over the previous two years has been considerable and that, even though he is 35, he is just becoming better and better. The former New Zealand captain also said that the senior stumper’s performances would undoubtedly improve as he receives more playing time in the future.
Sheldon Jackson is improving everyday, says Brendon McCullum
“Sheldon continues to improve daily. He is 35 years old, yet you would never guess it. During the previous two years, he has seen remarkable progress. In addition, he possesses excellent ball-striking skills. When it comes to hitting the ball, he is not too far behind, if not the same as, Andre Russell. I am certain that given more opportunity, Sheldon would put up a good performance,” Brendon McCullum was reported as saying by ‘Sportstar’.
“The wicketkeeping abilities have been outstanding. He has a similar feel to MS Dhoni when it comes to keeping. He has really quick hands and a good knowledge of spin. He is very aware of what the bowlers are doing. He is determined to perform well,” McCullum said.
Even though Sheldon Jackson has not worn the Indian jersey as of yet, he is one of the most well-known personalities in the domestic circuit. He has previous experience as a player in the Indian Premier League (IPL). After representing KKR in 2009 and 2010, then from 2015 to 2017, before returning to the team last year. In addition, he played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2013 and 2014 editions of the tournament.
After his stumping in the first game, Sheldon Jackson went on to grab three more catches, including one of Virat Kohli, and he also caused the stumping of Shahbaz Ahmed during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. His first match with the bat saw him score an undefeated three runs against CSK before being removed for a golden duck in the second match against Bangalore.
