IPL 2022: Aakash Chopra, a former India opener, believes that the Punjab Kings (PBKS) will make their way into the play-offs and into the top-four slots this season after a strong start. PBKS constructed their team from the ground up by purchasing a large number of talented players during the two-day mega auction.
Chopra was filmed on his YouTube channel discussing his predictions regarding where PBKS would finish in the points table, as well as who he felt would be the team’s leading run-scorer and wicket-taker.
“Shikhar Dhawan will be the top run-scorer for the Punjab Kings. There is also a chance that he may be awarded the Orange Cap as a result of this endeavour. Rabada will be the most successful wicket-taker. He has a good chance of winning the Purple Cap as well. The race for the highest strike rate is a toss-up between Agarwal, Livingstone, and Shahrukh. But I believe it will come down to Livingstone. My prediction is that they will finish in the top four since they have the team to accomplish it,” Aakash Chopra said.

In preparation for the mega auction, PBKS had amassed the largest sum of money since they had retained just two of its players, Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh while releasing the others. The PBKS table was the most active during the auction. They hoped to acquire the majority of the players to put together a formidable team.
Additionally, Chopra forecasted PBKS’s likely starting XI for their first match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). “It will be Dhawan and Mayank who will begin the innings. They may be the most reliable opening duo in the game. Because Bairstow will not be available for the first two matches, they will have to rely on Prabhsimran Singh to fill the No. 3 spot. Then there’s Liam Livingstone and Shahrukh Khan. Benny Howell comes in at No. 6 on the list. The bowlers include Odean Smith, Rahul Chahar, Kagiso Rabada, Sandeep Sharma, and Arshdeep Singh. With Bairstow back in the lineup, this team will be even better,” Chopra said.
Punjab Kings’ path through the IPL has been a whirlwind, with a slew of re-organizations, both in terms of coaches and players, during the course of the competition.
