‘They’ll be my lunch companions’ – Ponting sets bonding rules for Capitals

IPL 2022: Ricky Ponting Talks About Setting Team Bonding In DC Team

IPL 2022: After the Royal Challengers Bangalore, it is now the Delhi Capitals’ turn to concentrate on strengthening the camaraderie amongst the squad members. Head Coach Ricky Ponting has encouraged the elder members of the squad to ensure that the doors to their rooms remain open for the younger members of the team as they prepare to compete in the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League. With a swarm of new faces joining the team after the blockbuster auction, Ponting’s first objective is to ensure that everyone feels comfortable at the camp.

Rookies Prithvi Shaw, Axar Patel, and Anrich Nortje, as well as captain Rishabh Pant, according to Ponting, will have the the job of easing the new players into the team’s routines. Aside from that, Ponting has disclosed that he will be dining with the young competitors at their respective meals (breakfast, lunch, and supper).

“When the lads are in their rooms, I have instructed them to leave their doors open to get to know one another. Every one of the younger player that I don’t know is going to be my breakfast, lunch, and supper companions this week. When you offer love to the younger men as a coach or as a senior player, you know that they would return the love to you,” Ricky Ponting said.

“In my opinion, the men who have been in the Delhi Capitals camp for a long have a huge duty in terms of guiding the younger members of the club. Rishabh is the captain. So he’ll take care of it on his own. But players like Prithvi, Axar, and Nortje will also have their own duties and responsibilities inside the squad,”he said.

In the team, there is an upbeat atmosphere, which is exactly what we are looking for: Ricky Ponting ahead of IPL 2022

When Ponting arrived for his first training session with the players, he was immediately impressed by the upbeat spirit that pervaded the room. “At the moment, we must devote our whole attention to completing the tasks necessary to prepare for game one. A fantastic first session with the players! There’s a positive energy surrounding the squad, which is something we aim for all of the time,” he added.

In addition to the Delhi Capitals’ new foreign recruits David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Tim Seifert, and Rovman Powell, the U19 Skipper Yash Dhull, Vicky Ostwal, Chetan Sakariya, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, and Sarfaraz Khan are among the team’s fresh and youthful faces in the training camp.

On March 27, the Delhi Capitals will take on the Mumbai Indians in the first game of the IPL 2022 season.
