The TNPL stands for Tamil Nadu Premier League. It is a professional Twenty-20 league played in the state of Tamil Nadu. In 2016, the group was formed by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). It is mostly played in the month of July and August every year. Total eight teams participated from eight different districts in Tamil Nadu. Since its establishment, SANKAR Cements has been sponsoring the league. The first series was commenced by Indian Cricket Team captain MS Dhoni.

This is the fifth season of TNPL. It will start from 4th June till 4th July 2021. The TNPL 2020 didn’t take place due to the COVID-19 situation. The matches will be played in three different places -Salem, Coimbatore, and Tirunelveli. The last season of TNPL was held in 2019, where the Chepauk Super Gillies won the title by beating the Dindigul Dragons by 12 runs in the final stage. TNPL 2021 Schedule, Fixtures & Timetable

The TNPL 2021 will have 32 matches this season as well as QUALIFIER–1, QUALIFIER–2, ELIMINATOR, and the FINAL. The games will be played in Dindigul, Salem, Coimbatore and Tirunelveli. The initial match will be played within Dindigul Dragons vs IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans. The final game will be held in SCF Cricket Ground Salem. All games of TNPL 2021 will played behind the closed doors.

TNPL 2021 Team List

There are eight teams who will be playing in the league. The name of the squads is representing the district in the state. Every team will have a maximum of 22 players including the outstation players. In 2020, two teams changed their name and base – Karaikudi Kaalai converted to Tiruppur Tamizhans of Tiruppur and Tuti Patriots of Thoothukudi moved to Salem presenting Salem Spartans.

TNPL 2021 Venue Details

The Tamil Nadu Premier League 2021 will be played in four locations are as follows:

1. SCF Cricket Ground Salem
2. SNR College Cricket Ground, Coimbatore
3. NPR College Ground, Dindigul
4. ICL Cricket Ground, Tirunelveli

Tamil Nadu Premier League Champions

The winner of TNPL 2021 will take away the prize money of 1 crore and runner-up with 60 lakhs. The third and fourth teams will get 40 lakhs each and remaining four squads will have 25 lakhs each.
