The 2020 Summer Olympics is also known as Tokyo 2020. It is a forthcoming international multi-sport event scheduled to take place from 23rd July to 8th August 2021 in Tokyo, Japan. Initially, the event was supposed to take place from 24th July to 9th August 2020 but later it got postponed in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 situation. In spite of being rescheduled in 2021, Tokyo 2020 was the name was marketing and branding purposes. This was the first time that the Olympic games got rescheduled instead of canceled. The Summer Paralympics will take place on 24th August and 5th September 2021 after the Olympics.

On 7th September 2013, Tokyo was elected as the hosting city during the  125th IOC Session in Buenos Aires, Argentina. 1964 was the first time to host the Olympics in Tokyo, the 2020 Olympics is the second time. This was the first city in Asia to host the Olympics twice.

The 2020 Olympics will launch new competitions like  3×3 basketball, freestyle BMX, and madison cycling, also some mixed events. The last edition of the Olympics was held in the year 2016 in Brazil.
